At Glory of India, Chef & Owner Jassie Bakshi gives cooking classes in Calgary, which has been a tradition for five years. He teaches authentic Indian Cuisine cooking providing the history of food, its origin, spices, methods, and ingredients. Our Focus is to increase your understanding of fine Indian food, how to source ingredients – both the local and the exotic – to prepare them with ease and delight. We offer private and/or customized cooking classes for personal and/or corporate parties, and we offer weekly public classes as well.

Jassie is an internationally acclaimed chef; he worked around the world for over 20 years. Formally trained and experienced in five star hotels as executive chef and international chef trainer. Cooking was Jassie’s hobby then he turned it into his profession. Jassie went to The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and then became the Executive Chef at the Oberoi hotel in India. The Oberoi is a high end, five star, chain of hotels in India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the U.A.E. Later, Jassie joined the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago, and became the International Trainer Chef; he would travel to train the local chefs in countries including Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, England, Hong Kong, The USA, Canada, and India. He worked at 4 different chains of the Kahler Hotels in Minnesota for 7 years. In the early 90s, Jassie was in charge of 4 hotels, 11 restaurants, and 16 banquet halls!
